What happened? The “whirlwind” of urgent activity required to keep things running day-to-day devoured all the time and energy you needed to invest in executing your strategy for tomorrow! The 4 Disciplines of Execution can change all that forever.
SESSION AGENDA
Catered lunch will be provided along with refreshments throughout the day.
Session 1: The Execution Challenge (8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.)
There are several predictable traps that almost all leaders, and almost all organizations, fall into when it comes to strategic execution. Until we understand how these traps are showing up in our organization, we are likely to repeat the same patterns. In the first session, you will uncover common execution breakdowns and what they look like in your areas of responsibility.
Session 2: The 4 Disciplines of Execution (10:30 a.m. to Noon)
Just as flight is dependent on the principles of Lift, Thrust, Weight, and Drag, the ability for organizations to execute is dependent on the principles of Focus, Leverage, Engagement and Accountability. The 4 Disciplines of Execution (or 4DX) represents 19 years of work applying these principles to over 4,000 different organization. In Session 2, you will learn 4DX from the perspective of a senior leader. Chris will walk you through a series of case studies from different industries to clearly demonstrate how to apply the 4 principles.
Session 3: Strategic Focus (1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.)
In this session we roll up our sleeves and apply what we learned in the morning to our individual plans and priorities. Chris will take you through a series of exercises that FranklinCovey has applied with senior leadership teams for more than a decade. These will help you to identify your strategic bottleneck and transform your strategy into the fewest number of executable targets necessary for success. You will have the opportunity to learn from other leaders in the room as they wrestle with the challenge of creating simplicity and transparency from complex strategies.
Session 4: Adoption and Sustainability (2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
Session 4 is about gaining the commitment ( not just compliance) of the organization. Chris will share the implementation lessons learned from thousands of organizations that have implemented 4DX. Some of these lessons run contrary to popular beliefs about change management. The proper execution of strategy is a leader’s greatest leverage for driving engagement and effecting positive cultural change. When done correctly it creates the feeling of playing a winnable, and high-stakes game! This often has a bigger impact on the lives of individuals than most leaders think is even possible.
